Course Details
In this course, participants will learn why a lisp is rarely a developmental speech sound disorder, and will be challenged to look beyond inconsistent articulation normative data and the traditional model when assessing and treating lisps. Orofacial myofunctional disorders are discussed as the root of the pesky lisp and medical & structural challenges are explored. Lateral and interdental lisps are targeted, as well as the placement of /t/, /d/, /n/, /l/, /r/, /?/ , /t?/ and /d?/. Participants are provided strategies that they could immediately apply to their practice.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Identify the similarities of interdental and lateral lisp(s)in clients.
- List three etiologies for a lisp.
- Demonstrate two new techniques to correct a lisp.

Content Disclosure: This presentation will focus on treatment methods related to the use of TalkTools® resources. Other similar treatment approaches will receive limited or no coverage during this lecture.
